Tara Malone is a New York based Director, Executive Producer and Photographer with over twenty years of experience in visual media. She has created diverse nonfiction content for Netflix, Hulu, MAX, ABC, NatGeo, OWN, A&E, Condé Nast and ID. As a visual storyteller and filmmaker, Tara seeks out opportunities to spotlight social justice content and amplify voices of survivors and activists.
In 2020, Tara joined the post-production team of Netflix’s hit series CRIME SCENE: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel by veteran filmmaker Joe Berlinger. She assumed the role of Supervising Producer on the series, which debuted in early 2021, reaching tens of millions worldwide. Next, Tara became the Series Director and Co-Executive Producer for the ABC News Studios & HULU documentary series, THE AGE OF INFLUENCE. This six-part anthology examines the dark side of influencer culture, unpacking issues like child-privacy, cyberbullying, body dysmorphia and identity theft. ​

She stepped up as Series Director and Showrunner at Talos Films for TEEN TORTURE, INC. a 3-part documentary on America's "Troubled" Teen Industry which debuted in the summer of 2024 to critical acclaim and ratings success on MAX. The documentary follows a recurring band of young whistleblowers, sharing first-hand accounts of abuse to drive reform of a corrupt system. Her next directing project, FALLEN IDOLS: Nick & Aaron Carter, explored accusations of sexual assault against pop star Nick Carter, revealing the post #MeToo era backlash that his accusers and their supporters endured. After its dual premiere on MAX and Investigation Discovery, the documentary reached number one on the streaming service.

Tara's latest project, MURDER HAS TWO FACES, debuted on Hulu in May 2025 and quickly reached its top 3 most-watched series. She served as the Executive Producer and Showrunner at Cortés Filmworks for ABC News Studios & HULU. Hosted by Good Morning America's Robin Roberts, this three-part series investigates parallels between high-profile criminal cases and similar crimes that were underreported. It shines a light on the disparity in media coverage and lack of law-enforcement resources for minority communities.
